Independence Day 15.08.2017



INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Independence Day- a day to celebrate India’s much sought independence and to take pledge to render our nation free from shackles that are a hindrance in the progress and prosperity.

The program commenced with Rag Bhairavi sung by the school choir. The tricolor was hoisted by Chief Guest, Mrs. Anumeha Singh; Principal, Mrs. Savita Chadha and tiny tots. A nukkad natak depicted the fundamental rights and duties and a dance performance by the students showcased the ethos and spirit of Indian diversity in culture and tradition.

The oath by CBSE made students pledge for a clean, corruption free nation where everybody is honestly fulfilling their duties and not letting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters to go waste.

The choir added patriotic fervor to the air with their performance on ‘Pray for India’.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Anumeha Singh, in her speech, stressed on the fact that the society has contributed a lot and now its our turn to do our bit. She further added that every individual effort of each one of us would make a difference.

Principal, Mrs. Savita Chadha, congratulated the assembly and inspired the students with her thought provoking speech to learn from the lives and sacrifices of the freedom fighters. She motivated the students to serve the nation by volunteering themselves to do their part by – each one teach one.

The program was concluded with the rendition of the national anthem followed by sweet distribution.

On the pious occasion of “Janmashthmi” the tiny tots of Delhi Public School, Meerut were shown a movie on Lord ‘Krishna’.

The motive of showing this movie was not only to entertain the children but make them learn about the life history of Lord Krishna.

As in today’s busy life and trend of nuclear families, parents do not narrate such mythological stories to their kids, but these movies help the children to learn moral values and ethics.

After watching it, children came out singing the song “Hare Krishna, Krishna Hare Hare” and the excitement on their faces were inexpressible.

JANMASHTHMI CELEBRATION

Janmashthmi, a celebration of Lord Krishna’s Brithday is a reminder for all to believe that God resides in a person’s heart, not in temples.

In Delhi Public School, Meerut tiny tots section, Janmashthmi was celebrated with huge zest. Students beautified earthern pots by colourning them for the festival. They also made photo frames to be adorned by the pictures of Lord Krishna.

Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha, also propagated the messages given by Lord Krishna in Bhagwat Gita. She enticed the students to understand the inner essence of all the religions and not only to remain involved in mere festivities

On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Rakhi making competition was organized at Delhi Public School, Meerut for the students of class II on 3-Aug-2017. The students participated with great zeal and zest. It was truly a delight to watch the young hands of our little artisans putting together intricate material and fondly fiddling for mirrors, beads etc. to deliver beautiful and extremely creative masterpieces. The rakhis made were an enviable lot and a fusion of modern with traditional styles.

With growing intolerance in today’s world it is becoming a necessity that children and youth understand the importance of relationship and friendship.

‘Friendship Day’ was celebrate in Delhi Public School, Meerut  Pre Primary section with huge zest and zeal.

Kids shared handmade pencil caps and friendship bands with their friends. Little ones even learned to write their ‘Friends’ name.

Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha, also spoke to the students, about the importance of friendship in every ones lives. She said that today as there is dearth of relatives around us, friends serve as our extended families and they should be valued by us.

Play is a child’s full time job, and ‘Pretend Play’ is a healthy part of every child’s social, emotional and cognitive development.

At Delhi Public School, Meerut on 25th July’17 an alluring activity of ‘Pretend Play’ was conducted for students of Pre-Nursery to Prep.

Kids participated in chromatic attires to represent different themes like Animal kingdom, fruits & vegetables world where they came dressed like an apple, mango, brinjal, cow, cat, tiger, elephant, whale etc.

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha also addressed the little ones on the occasion. She always extend her support to the students no matter what they do, to boost their confidence.

“Good personal hygiene is one of the most effective ways to protect ourselves from illness & diseases”.

Keeping in mind the maintenance of personal hygiene for the growth and development of a child, Delhi Public School, Meerut organised a workshop for the students of class IV on the topic “Personal Hygiene”. The session was conducted by Dr. Manisha Bansal who made the students aware about the bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites - how do they transfer, affect and harm one’s body. She also told about the importance and techniques of washing hands, bathing, brushing etc. The students took active interest in learning the ways & methods to keep themselves clean & hygiene.

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha instructed the children to take care of their personal hygiene. So as to get rid of harmful bacteria and diseases.

It was a knowledgeable and enriching session for all.

On 10th July’17 Delhi Public School, Meerut organized a workshop on Health and Healthful diet. Students from classes V and VI registered their whole hearted participation. The renowned dietician Ms. Umang Bahal educated the students on nutritious food and health through many interesting and engaging activities. The students raised intelligent queries.

The workshop for the students of class VIII was well conducted by renowned psychologist Ms. Manisha Jaithwani in Tagore Hall. She told the students that before being friends with others we should always careful about their age group, behaviour and preferences in life, only then this friendship can result into a good relation.

Another important part of the workshop was the Interactive Counseling Session. The aim was to have a free and frank discussion with the participants and for resolving their doubts and queries on career and future.

Principal Mrs. Savita Chadha during her address thanked Ms. Manisha Jaithwani and Ms. Umang for such a trendy and effective presentation. She advised the students to know the importance of the ongoing formative years and their constructive strength. She further added that students should always eat balanced homemade food, as eating readymade food from the market is not wholesome for a healthy body.  As we all now “Healthy Minds lives in Healthy Body”.

PRESS REPORT ON ACTIVITY – PANCHTANTRA KI KAHANIYAN

‘Panchtantra ki Kahaniyan’ are a collection of fables, the first acquaintance of children to the literature of ancient India and to enroot moral values in them.

On 08.07.2017 an activity was conducted by Delhi Public School, Meerut for tiny buds of the school. For classes Nur & Pre-Nur teachers narrated some stories which children heartily enjoyed and learnt.

But the real spectacle was the students of class Prep, who themselves narrated elucidative stories to their class. Little ones not only told stories but they also permeated the moral hidden in each story like “Be kind”, “never copy “ and “Faithfulness” etc.

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha, who is always keen to be a part of any initiative taken by the kids, was also there to make children understand the importance of morality in life. She also told that everything in life has something to teach us. It’s on to us that how we perceive.

Avika Jain from class II by winning 5th position with Bronze Medal and Rudraksh Thakur by 1st International rank with Gold Medal in International Maths Olympiad under IMO, International Maths Olympiad have brought pride to everyone at Delhi Public School Meerut. They have been felicitated with IMO Academic Book Set and Appreciation Certificates. They have refreshed the glory and prestige of the School and have set energizing examples for other students.

Adding to the pride winning spree, Hrishikesh and Vaishnavi from class I won 8th Zonal Rank in International English Olympiad. They have also been felicitated with book sets and appreciation Certificates. According to the achievers extensive study and research help you achieve success in life.

GOONJ - A VOICE, AN EFFORT

In today’s World of Globalization when material things are easily accessible and available, the feeling of gratitude and the value of resources is totally lost. Specially in the children of the favored lot of the society.

Delhi Public School, Meerut took up this initiative to orient the students in this regard, with “Goonj”, an NGO, whose vision is to make people aware, empathize and help the poor with material things, not as charity but as an opportunity.

Ms. Anita Patel and Ms Rytham Sachdeva, from “Goonj” team, had an interactive session with students, so that vision could find an echo in children’s hearts.

Students were very responsive and eager to be part of the cause.

Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha also addressed the students to sensitize them towards it. She encouraged everyone including her staff members to understand their responsibility towards the society and that is what  the motto of the school is, ‘Service Before Self‘.

Today, to felicitate the brilliant Depsites, a special assembly was organized by Delhi Public School, Meerut. After performing the regular unique features of assembly like self made poem recitation, thought for the day, morning prayers; felicitation commenced with the introduction of the achievers and their achievements by the school Principal Ms. Savita Chadha. Vetida Sharma with 124th and Akshat Gupta with 410th Rank bore away scholarships in UPSTSE (UP Science Talent Search Exam) and were felicitated with souvenirs.

Pranav Maheshwari for earning the esteemed admission in the prestigious IIT Kanpur was also felicitated with heartfelt appreciation and a souvenir. The scholars while addressing the students spoke of the school in high esteem. Adding to the gratitude, Pranav Maheshwari said “His schooling at Delhi Public School, Meerut has been the foundation of his dream achievement”. He shared amazing tips for success with the students and thanked his parents, principal and teachers of the school for such far-seeing guidance.

In the memory of Mr. M.P. Singh, Founder, M.P. Singh Foundation a scholarship exam was conducted for the students of class X who scored CGPA 10 in their class X (CBSE-2016-17) result.

The scholarship exam was conducted on 08th June’17 in Delhi Public School, Meerut where in large number of students from different schools of city appeared.

As per the result declaration many students were awarded with 100% scholarship on seeking admission in class XI in different streams i.e. Science, Commerce & Humanities for the session 2017-18 while couple of students were awarded up to 80% scholarship according to the result. School management was really overwhelmed to see the results and wished a bright future ahead to all the selected students.

                    MEMORABLE, EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO AMERICA BY THE STUDENTS OF DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT

Delhi Public School, Meerut students from classes VIII to XI went on a twelve day memorable, educational trip to Kennedy Space Center, America under the guidance of Principal Ms. Savita Chadha. Students quenched their thirst for knowledge, getting their queries furnished by the staff of the space center. They explored Disney Land, Universal Studio, Washington DC, New York City and Smithonian Science Museum. The trip, from 31st May’17 to 12th June’17 was a period of absolute learning. Children experienced open end learning be it dignity of labour, traffic sense or their system of education.

Students were blessed not only to view space shuttle launching stations but were also privileged to interact with astronaut - Sam Durrance. They were fortunate enough to visit the famous Columbia University where they gathered knowledge about the educational system being followed in US. All the students returned back home gathering ample memorable experiences for themselves.

Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha highlighted on the fruitful and beneficial trip of the students and encouraged others too, to be an inspiration for others.

He has brought laurels not only his parents but also to city and our school.

Adding to this pride Videeta Sharma from Class X has bore away special scholarship with 124th position in UPSTSE (UP Science Talent Search Exam) organised on 30.05.2017.

In the second session, a workshop on career counseling was conducted. The base line of the Workshop was to help prospective generation to understand their hidden talent in a scientific way via psychological tests, interactive counseling by experts, an open round of questioning and expert advises from well known professionals of various fields.

The workshop was well conducted by renowned psychologist Ms. Manisha Jaithwani. She laid her special emphasis on choosing the field according to one’s interest and capability and then pursuing the same with conviction which leads to success. She also gave the formula for success. By illustrating live cases and thought provoking deliberations, she made the atmosphere extremely electrifying and involved each and every participant to understand and realize their inherent strengths to opt their best suited career prospects.

VISIT TO VISHOKANAND ASHRAM



                                                                             Visit to Vishokanad Ashram

48 Students of Delhi Public School, Meerut visited Vishokanad Ashram situated on the bank of river Ganga near Bijnor on 09th May’17. The aim of the educational tour was to create awareness among the students about rural life and to sensitize them to the problem of the aged people. Students along with the teachers to supervise them started as early as seven in the morning after taking the well wishes and instructions from the principal Ms. Savita Chadha who believes in providing holistic education to the children.

 The ashram offers a tranquil retreat cradled in vast expanses of orchards with a profusion of mangoes, pears and jackfruit. The Children were welcomed by the manager of the ashram and offered refreshment on the arrival.

The children were taken on a trip to Vishokanand Campus where they learned about a number of medicinal plants and trees. Students were shown the water harvesting plant, vermincompost and solar energy plant.

Students were exposed to panchtantra way of treatment through Ayurveda and physiotherapy. After this the children were taken for Ganga Darshan and they visited the Dolphin centuary. Next was a trip planned to the holy Vidhur Kutir, a place of mythological significance in the epic of Mahabharata. The children were offered a simple vegetarian meal at the ashram, followed by a closing ceremony which included a poster making competition and thanks giving speech by children and the teachers.

Children distributed sweets and eatables to the aged person and inquired about their health conditions. The children got a deep insight into some of the bitter realities of life.

On behalf of Delhi Public School, Meerut a small donation was made for this noble purpose of providing help to the old and destitute people. The children vowed to take care of their parents and grandparents.

NAINITAL TRIP

Delhi Public School, Meerut took an initiative to send the children of classes VII and VIII for an educational trip to Nainital, Uttarakhand. It was a five day designed program to arouse love for nature & to discover their latent talent in the tranquil atmosphere of the forests of Nainital. Students left for their desired destination with the blessings of the Respected Principal Ms. Savita Chadha. She herself see off the group on 22nd May’17 at 09:30 pm at night with her valuable tips to make this trip a memorable one. The students reached at Ayarpata, the resort in Nainital at 7 o’clock in the morning.

The students were divided into the three groups- Red Indians, Green Gorillas and Black Commandos. Children performed the activities like tent pitching, flying fox, rock climbing, knot tying, rappelling and tracking & caving etc.

Trekking to explore the jungle hills, was made even at night, to feel the silent beauty of nature & existence of wild life.

Children felt enthusiastic in Rappelling Activity while coming down from a mountain slope in a controlled manner with the help of mountaineering equipments.

The children were rewarded for their remarkable performance for different activities and were motivated by the teacher incharges as well as the instructors of Rocksport.

Caving, a recreational pastime of exploring wild cave system was a great experience to enter in an underground space large enough for a human to enter. The caves lead the students into a mysterious and ancient dreams of history. They were introduced to an ecofriendly life and got knowledge of different kinds of caves like solution caves, boulder caves, sea caves, glacer caves etc. Bonfire and D.J. night was like a spice added to the trip.

 The whole vision was given by Principal Ms. Savita Chadha to give the encouragement to the students to face the challenges in their lives.

On 26th May’17 at morning 05:00am the students came back to school with uneraseable memories of the trip and were handed over safely to their parents.

MULTI SKILLS INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION



                                                                        A multi skill Inter School Competition

A multi skill Inter School Competition was held at MPGS, Shastri Nagar, in which total ten renowned schools of the city participated. 21 students of DPS Meerut participated in all the six categories and have once again brought fame and Laurel to DPS Meerut. Akshita Goel(X E) stood first in Eloquent Expression, Saumitra Garg (VIII B) stood first in Swag a Tag, Stuti Kamboj (IX C)  stood  third in Swag a tag, Saloni Jain (IX E) bagged third position in Poster making competition and Dipti Verma (IX E) bagged the third position in Tableau Making.

All the eminient academicians and literary figures of the city evaluated the efforts of participants and praised their enthusiastic efforts. Principal, Ms Savita Chadha congratulated the students and wished them luck for their future life.

Mother's Day is a perfect time to celebrate your mother and all her wonderful qualities.

Mother’s Day is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm in 46 countries across the globe. It is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, the unconditional love of mothers and their influence in society. Mothers are our guiding force and are responsible for making us who we are.

To generate this special feeling among the tiny tots and give them a chance to show their feelings towards their dear mothers, the Kindergarten section of Delhi Public School, Meerut celebrated Mother’s Day on 15th May’17.

Some very enthusiastic mothers took initiative to come to school and shared their talents with the kids in the classes. They involved the children in Art & Craft, Dancing, Singing & Narrated Several Stories. The hugging and clinging to them brought tears to see the pious mother’s love which is incomparable with anything in the world.

The students were reminded of the contributions of their mothers to their lives through activities conducted in their classes. Though they may not show it every day, but they were happy to get an opportunity to express their love and admiration to their mothers on this very special day. The cherubs prepared beautiful cards and bouquet of paper flowers with their little hands as a surprise gift for their dear mothers. This was an effort to develop their sensitivity towards the environment and fine motor skills.

It has been a year since our beloved Founder Chairman Late Shri M.P. Singh went on his heavenly abode but his teachings and legacy of education is as fresh as morning petals.

Today on 06th May’17 Delhi Public School, Meerut held a special assembly in sweet memory of its founding father enumerating his large contributions to society and education. Many teachers and students could not hold their tears back when the students with their tender hands offered fragrant petals to him. How meaningful the child sounded when he conveyed his respects to Late. Shri M.P. Singh by calling him a huge tree of education and blessings during his speech. M.P. Singh Cricket Academy, Meerut is the live example of his great persona. Great man never dies he remains immortal through the deeds of welfare.

The school Principal Ms. Savita Chadha during her homage said that our school will always remain grateful to Late Shri M.P. Singh as we by following his ways with the torch of education lit by him will surely be able to guide our students to the new and higher levels of self enlightenment. She further appealed to all the students and teachers (recounting some of the extracts from Late Shri M.P. Singh’s speeches) to lay special emphasis on the holistic and honest teaching and learning.

Nothing excites tiny tots more than colours do. To give them a vibrant and colourful experience, Delhi Public School, Meerut organized a colour competition.

The little artists promptly responded to the invitation by exhibiting their creativity.

The atmosphere was filled with excitement and little ones showed their talent in the open field under the hues of sky.

It was an effort to identify the inner talent of the children. As each child has his own colourful imagination.

The competition was full of pure joy and it served the purpose.

                            Two day Workshop on a Capacity Building Program on Classroom Management by CBSE

Delhi Public School, Meerut hosted a two days workshop on Capacity Building Program on Classroom Management by CBSE on 26th May’2017. The second session of the workshop took place on 27th May’17 in the auditorium of the school.   

On the last day of the workshop Mr. Madam Lal Sawhney, Ms. Shikha Gautam the resource persons from CBSE and the Principal Ms. Savita Chadha, had very pragmatic and serious discussion with the participating teachers and talked on the problems like emotional outburst, impulsive and aggressive behavior and troubles due to attention seeking amongst adolescents.      

The Tagore Hall throbbed with lot of activities focusing on one of the most important issues of today’s life i.e. Capacity Building on Classroom Management.

Mr. Sawhney during an extensive session spoke on many aspects of high gravity such as appreciating students and to be a democratic teacher in reasonably good proportion with authoritative teaching. He further advised all the teachers to be unpredictable in terms of bringing, surprising and interesting study material and information to the classroom.

Ms. Shikha Gautam told the teachers to be more positive in the classroom and to let the children have opportunity to write new words and latest information on classroom white board on daily basis.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha during her address thanked all the distinguished guests and the teachers who attended the workshop. She also expressed her heartfelt thanks to CBSE for organizing such an effective workshop in the premises of Delhi Public School Meerut.

Swimming Pool Classes 17.04.2017



SWIMMING CLASSES INAUGURATED AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT

On 17th April’17 swimming classes in the ultra modern swimming pool of the school have been inaugurated by Ms. Shashi Singh, Pro-vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Meerut and Ms. Anumeha Singh.

 

On the occasion Ms. Savita Chadha, school Principal told everyone that swimming is both an exercise and a recreation in which one has to move in water thrashing on it with hands and paddling with legs without any exterior aid. She further remarked “Swimming is both an entertainment and quite helpful from point of health”. 

 

She encouraged students saying that sincere learning of lessons, regular practice using all major and minute techniques can enable students for not only national but also international competitions. Thence, they can make promising careers in the water sports like water polo, open water swimming, free style backstroke, butterfly etc.

DPS MEERUT TAKES A CALL ON NUTRITION AND HEALTH

Today’s life style which is hectic and draining, attention to good health and food has taken back seat. This upsetting scenario results in many academic and health challenges. Attending to the same concern Delhi Public School, Meerut; under its annual medical program “Doctor on call” organized a Counseling session on identifying students with special needs in terms of good diet, academic boosters and required social skills. The Doctors and The Counselors from Medanta - The Medicity, (A world class hospital in Gurgaon) conducted the special workshop.

  The Tagore Hall of the school being packed to its capacity spoke volumes of immediacy of the concern and success of the session meant to help students, parents and teachers.

Senior nutritionist Praveena Anadaraman talked on healthy eating habits based on nutritive value for children. She educated everyone present on the “how much “and “how” intake of proteins and other nutrition.  In the session held by Ms. Manisha Jethwani (A senior psychological counselor), parents and teachers were guided to be watchful of developmental signs to notice in the child. The session ended for 45 minutes. She further held individual sessions with parents and students who were regressing academically; and prepared an informal respective assessment of the children.

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the complete attendance of the parents and appealed to them to spare out time as much as possible for their children to ensure their good physical, mental and social health.

Watermelon Party



WATERMELON PARTY

Date: 20-04-2017

Oh! With the temperature of 420C, one needs to keep oneself cool with drinking refreshing drinks and eating lots of juicy fruits. Watermelon is one of the sources for keeping cool and retaining water in the body. Thus, to make children learn more about this, A Watermelon Party was held at kindergarten section of Delhi Public School, Meerut on 20th April’17. Children were made to eat watermelon with toothpicks and were also told about the advantages of eating this fruit.

The seeds of fruits were pasted on paper cuttings of watermelon and were given as handouts. It was a refreshing and cool party for the kids.

“EARTH DAY” WEEK LONG CELEBRATION” 29-04-17

Kindergarten section of Delhi Public School, Meerut organized week long activities to celebrate ‘Earth Day’ from 22nd to 29th April’17. Different activities like ‘Say No to Poly Bags, Tree Plantation Drive, Visit to Herbal Garden etc’ were organized for students to drill in the concept of environmental preservation. Students were made to realize that this Earth is a beautiful gift and it is their prime duty to be good caretakers of this Earth.

BAISAKHI CELEBRATION AND AMBEDKAR JAYANTI 13-04-17

Baisakhi is one of the most popular festivals celebrated in the vibrant state of Punjab. On 13th April 2017, the tiny tots of DPS celebrated it with exuberance and gaiety. They pasted sticks of wheat in their scrap books to make the scene of a field. It was an effort to make  kids aware of this festival, the festival of crops.

To celebrate the 126th birthday of our Father of the Constitution, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the students of class prep were given a fact sheet on this eminent personality. It was a new image for them to store in their album of pictures.

With the onset of the new academic session 2017-18 a special Parents Orientation Programme was organized for the parents of students from class Pre Nursery to II at Delhi Public School, Meerut on 31-03-2017.

The psychologist and counselor Ms. Manisha Jaithwani from Doctor on Call, Medanta the Medicity Gurugram during the interactive session, told the parents about physical, dressing, mental, behavioral and psychological make-ups and requirements of the children.

The Nutritionist Ms. Shipra Sahgal Chabra counseled parents on complete nutrition and its function in body. The interesting presentation given by her were quite appreciated by the parents as she devised many ways of making children’s fancy foods full of nutritious values. 

She emphasized on spending quality time with children which can help them earning their own identity, individuality and self importance as children of their parents.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha during her formal address educated parents and teachers on “Pleasure of Parenting and Teaching” and gave them appropriate guidelines. She also spoke about the revival of brand value which all the parents have confided, in high esteem. Workshop on “How to indentify students with special needs 03-03-17

Childhood is the most sensitive stage of life wherein children need special attention from home as well as school. To help the teachers understand better and how to deal with students having special need a workshop was conducted at DPS Meerut on 06th March’17 by one of the best counselors of Doctor on Call, Dr. Manisha Jethwani. She has guided the teachers about how to identify and handle the students with special needs. It was an interactive and full of learning session for all the teachers from classes Pre-Nursery to II.

ADIT KHOKAR FROM DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL MEERUT BRINGS PRIDE TO MEERUT AND UTTAR PRADESH IN NSAJS EXAM

The second Level of NSEJS 2016-17 (NATIONAL STANDARD EXAMINATION IN JUNIOR SCIENCE) exam was organized under the Indian Association of Physics Teachers on 28th Jan 2017. 32 thousand students from all over the Uttar Pradesh participated in it. Adit Khokar from class X registered his competitive worth in the most difficult category of 1 %. He not only brought laurels to the school but also proved himself as an efficacious school brand ambassador. In this tough competition with the participation of 118 schools, Adit Khokar rising to the occasion proved the school’s principle of “As words so work”.

Regarding one of the religious customs of Delhi Public School, Meerut a grand Yagya was done. Wherein all the students from class XII participated and by enchanting the Saraswati Shlokas and pray to God the bless them with success in the coming board examination. Through the Sanskrit verses spoken in chorus, they thanked God & Teachers.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha and many teachers also participated in “Hawan”. The Students took the principal’s and their teachers’ blessings. The principal blessed all the students and told them to have full conviction in themselves and do their best and leave the rest as per Shrimad Bhagavad Geeta.

Little Champs Intra Class Dance Competition was organised on

21-Feb-2016  for Class II in Delhi Public School Meerut.

Students performed enthusiastically and showed their talent

A memorable farewell marked the end of academic session 2016-17 at Delhi Public School Meerut on 15th Feb’17. The students of class XI as well as the teaching faculty were present to applaud and bid adieu to the students of class XII.

The host’s were all ready to receive their beloved guests. They were welcomed by the students of Class XI in a traditional style. It was then followed by a variety of entertaining programmes by the students of Class XI. They orchestrated an enviable talent of singers and dancers. A wonderful presentation by syntech club was the chief attraction of the day. Class XII students on the other hand were all attired for the coveted titles. After a keen contest, the honors went to Gunjan Parashar (Miss.DPS), Rakshit Mittal (Mr.DPS), Vandita Jain (Miss Farewell) and Aditya Bhardwaj & Sahib Jeet Singh (Mr. Farewell). Besides this, few special titles like teacher’s pride, Mr. Popular, Mr.  & Ms. Humorous were also awarded to many other students.

The principal Mrs. Savita Chadha lent the occasion, the exquisite warmth with her gracious presence. In her motivational speech, she encouraged the students to achieve a whooping performance in the approaching board exams.

The farewell ended with vote of thanks proposed by Vandita Jain.

A VISIT TO ARMY FATE 18-01-17

The learning atmosphere should be carefully designed to articulate essential condition to nurture the young minds & manner of the youth into upright & valuable members of the society. Keeping same thought in mind, 329 students of Delhi Public School, Meerut, grade VII & VIII visited ‘Army Fate’ under the able guidance and supervision of almost ten teachers. It was held in Kulwant Singh Stadium. Students aligned and boarded the buses at 11:00 am on Monday 16th Jan’17.

Children enjoyed alluring dance performances, gallant dog show and horse show. They also inspected the mobile operation theatre.

Verbiage knowledge was given to the students by the army officers & attendants as well.

Students were enthralled with full of patriotic fervour and pride while getting the hidden truths of artilleries, they also got knowledge about the role of artilleries during the historical war ‘Kargil’. Students learnt dedication, determination, perseverance and sacrifice through this educational cum entertainment trip. Vehemence was on top and students left for school at 01:30 pm with a zeal to serve their nation with heart & soul.

A poor diet may cause health problems causing deficiency diseases, malnutrition obesity, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis & cardiovascular disease.

Delhi Public School, Meerut conducted a workshop on nutrition & Health facts. In this innovative workshop Dr. Sangeeta Narayan spread the awareness about food & food constituents. She gave them knowledge about protein, vitamin, mineral fibers and their importance for mental & physical growth.

She also makes them aware about the manufacturing & expiry dates of the products.

Aryan Pratap Singh of DPS, Meerut crated new records by his wonderful performance in CBSE National Skating Championship organized at DAV International School, Amritsar from 29th December 2016 to 01st January 2017.

In this competition more than 680 skaters from different zones participated.

Amazing Recreational-Respite for Staff 30-12-16

Delhi Public School, Meerut organized a get together for all the teachers and staff members on 30 December’16. One of the most awaited day extended lot of opportunities to everyone to have a direct interaction with one another through lot of sports and fun activities.

The fun filled day teeming with lot of laughters and exchange of well beings has been a memorable day. Everyone could relive their prime. Standing Kho-Kho, Circle Race, Dishes and Dones and Tug of War were the games enjoyed by all.

Everyone like a family had delicious lunch wherein teachers brought home made food. Teachers admired one another’s culinary expertise. The event revived the strengths of sociability, dependability, team work and appreciated others amongst all. The whole staff wished each other a happy new year 2017.

During Antakshri, teachers sang lot of musical trills and frills, which was really refreshing.  The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the throughout participation of the teachers and told them to be positive towards life as Life is a wonderful gift and one should live it to the fullest.

STATE GOVERNMENT FELICITATES DIPSITES 30-12-16

Under the social ideology of the state government, Students from classes X and XII of Delhi Public School were awarded with Lap-tops .The Samajwadi Parti congratulated the student for scoring 10 CGPA in Board exams. Muskan Jain, Shreyans Jain and Aditya Naresh brought laurels to the school. Hritik Bansal and Shaifali Jain made their parents and school proud by winning lap-tops.

HEALTH CHECK-UP CAMP AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT 26-12-16

Health is one of the cardinal and abiding element of every success, so the same has been our prime concern.

A Medical camp was organized at Delhi Public School Meerut on 26th Dec. 2016. The famous Health Care professionals examined students’ health and prepared individual extensive reports for school, teachers and parents as first hand elaborative health details for their knowledge. Dr. Anjali Sharma (Physician), Dr. Rahul Arora (Dentist) and Dr. Israr Ahmad (Ophthalmologist) were the team.

Dr. Anjali Sharma said, “Under this health check-up; General, Physical, Systematic and Dental Examination will be done”. Students were very excited to know the right ratio of their weight and height, exercises for healthy mind and more importantly how they should burn the extra calories.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha during her visit to the venue talked to the doctors and told students about the importance of good health in one’s life; as strong students make strong society and strong societies make strong nation.

This was a preliminary and clinical examination which was done on the students and is to be co related with specialist opinion and further investigation.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION : 24-12-16

“Dashing through the snow, on a one horse open sleigh, here comes the Santa to say “Merry Christmas” to all.”

On 24th Dec ’16, on Christmas Eve, the blooming flowers of Kindergarten celebrated “Christmas” with great zest and zeal. A melodious assembly was also conducted in the activity room where children offered prayers and lit candles near the Christmas trees. The teachers told them about the importance of this festival and how it is celebrated in different parts of the World. A lot of handouts were made according to the grades like Santa mask making, decorating the Christmas trees and colouring in pictures of Jesus Christ. The entire section was filled with happiness and joy because this festival is said to bring the same in everyone’s life.

A Magic Show at Delhi Public School, Meerut 20-12-16

On Tuesday 20th  December’16 Delhi Public School, Meerut invited an eminent magician, Mr. Amit Kumar Srivastava to surprise the children of the school with a magic show. Mr. Amit Kumar Srivastava have been associated with Red-Cross Society and with Sony TV. He have been performing  the magic shows for benevolent purposes.

Mr. Amit Kumar Srivastava performed cool tricks with great social messages. The magician involved few of the teacher & students in his tricks.

Students were perplexed by watching exotic tricks and the tricks were lashed one after the another. The whole magic show was significantly padded with recreation & social messages. The magician spread the message of patriotic fervor, awareness about girl foeticide  and deaddiction.

Children were luxuriated with magic show and they have a pleasant time.

Biscuit Toppings Activity 20-12-16

To arouse the taste buds with delicious recipe made by little hands, a “Biscuit Toppings” activity was held at kindergarten section of DPS, Meerut on 20 December2016.Children brought various ingredients like Oreo biscuits, Cadbury gems, Monaco biscuits etc. The teachers guided them step by step to make beautiful and mouth watering biscuit toppings; looking at them  one could not stop to taste them. This activity was conducted to help the beginners learn to make perfect snack without fire and even to create toppings of their choices as this snack is said to be the best finger food, so easy, tempting and quick to prepare.

Christmas activity was conducted in class II on 19-Dec-2016.Students brought creative art material and decorated Christmas tree in their own innovative styles. Let’s Salute Our Community Helpers

A community helper can be defined as any professional who helps in the overall health and well-being of the community. Besides teachers, doctors, nurses and police; community helpers also include dentists, construction workers and even grocery store workers. To make the beginners familiar with the term “Community helpers” and what types of jobs fall under this term, an activity was conducted at Pre-Primary section of DPS, Meerut on 9 Dec’ 2016. Guards, gardeners, maids, drivers were welcomed by the children in the activity Hall. Teachers introduced them to the children and told the services they provide us. The activity was organized keeping in mind to make the learners understand basic concepts of dependability and how families and communities work, together to meet their basic needs and wants.

Children were also encouraged by the Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha to respect all the community helpers.

SCHOOL CARNIVAL AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL MEERUT 26-11-16

The gaily glad children enjoyed the much awaited carnival, hosted by Delhi Public School, Meerut which finally unfolded on 26 November 2016. The carnival was inaugurated by the Mrs. Shashi Singh, Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Meerut and Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut. The day was indeed a fun filled one with mouth full of eats, games, exciting prizes and above all a gala time with friends and dear ones.

The celebration offered a wide range of entertainment, creativity and art & craft to experience. Games stalls included Dancing Ball, Cricket with Hanging Ball, Wear & Win, Spin the Bottle, Pick and Perform, Guess the Ad, Pyramid Puzzle, Pick and Droop, Water Glass with Ball, Bangles with Dice, Game Show, Light the Candle, Rock N Roll, Make your Word play stations and many more. Besides this there was an array of mouth watering eateries beckoning the crowd. Burger Street and Dominos need special mention as they were the crowd pullers. To top it all was the latest foot tapping numbers played by the DJ stall where the students danced till they were out of their breath and amongst  the little ones most popular were the exciting and thrilling rides.

“This Annual Cultural Festivity is eagerly awaited not only by our children but also by us because the carnival proves to be a wonderful reunion with our old friends who visit here with their children.” said one of the parents.

The Principal, Mrs. Savita Chadha, spoke in high esteem of the endeavours of the staff and students in making this carnival a huge success. She said “Such events help children learn the importance of togetherness and belongingness”. “One reason why we organise carnival is that a carnival has lot of different elements that need to be in sync. Looking for creative and enthusiastic parents, recruiting volunteer leaders and managing food, games and logistics teach everyone coordination and dependability”. She further added.    

The carnival was really a memorable hit with a large number of students and parents which provided the school community with a fantastic opportunity to have fun, share the excitement with family and friends and to feel proud of the schools escalating performances.

CLOSING CEREMONY OF INTER – DPS NATIONAL ATHLETIC MEET BOYS (OPEN) – 2016 20-11-16

Inter – DPS National Athletic Meet Boys (Open) - 2016 finally closed out, on 20th November 2016 after three days of amazing sporting actions. The final action in the grand Closing Ceremony included some amazing performers participants, singers and dancers.

Mr. Ranber Singh (Regional Officer, CBSE Dehradun) was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Dr. D.R. Saini (Director, DPS Society, New Delhi) was the distinguished Special Guest. Ms. Shashi Singh (Pro-Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School, Meerut), Mr. Atul Kumar Singh (Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut) and Ms. Anumeha Singh also graced the occasion.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha extended a cordial floral welcome to the Chief Guest and presented a souvenir to him. Mr. Atul Kumar Singh presented a shawl to him. There after the Principal extended an equally warm floral welcome to Ms. Shashi Singh, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh and Ms. Anumeha Singh. Mr. Ranber Singh during his formal address urged everybody to lay a special emphasis on learning Indian culture along with international language and trends. He also thanked all the parents to repose their utmost sincere trust in CBSE.

The School Coir presented a melodious song in the welcome of distinguished guests. The Punjabi Bhangra Dance performance was really spell-binding.

Dr. D.R. Saini during his address educated everyone on values, hard work and the biggest bond that CBSE shares through National Meets and Sports Clusters. The Principal during her address thanked all the principals, coaches, participants and her team for making the event happen. She also expressed her gratitude to DPS Society.

A two minutes silence was observed in the memory of our beloved Founder Chairman Late. Shri M.P. Singh. All the distinguished guests paid their heartfelt tribute to Late. Shri M.P. Singh. The Silver Shiny Rolling Trophy was given to both DPS, Bokaro Steel City and DPS, Faridabad, Sector-19. Ms. Shashi Singh and Mr. Atul Kumar Singh gave cheque of Rs. 1, 21,000/- (One Lac Twenty One Thousand) cash to each team respectively. The Prize money has been given by Chairperson Ms. Shashi Singh, Managing Trustee Mr. Atul Kumar Singh and Ms. Anemeha Singh (M.P. Singh Foundation) which will now be the annual feature of the Delhi Public School Society. The Runners up Trophy was awarded to DPS Dubai and DPS Durg and the Trophy for second runners up was given to DPS Aligarh, DPS Bhilai and DPS Greater Noida. The Trophy for best athlete was given to Ch. Palendra Kumar (DPS, Aligarh) who made a new record and emerged as the fastest runner of the meet.

The third day game produced memorable performances in the exhilarating sports. There were sporting triumphs that thrilled spectators watching the action of different matches on the grounds. In finals of Event 2- Boys 200m Run Ch. Palendra Kumar (DPS, Aligarh) bagged Gold Medal, Aman Tomar (DPS, Moradabad) got Silver Medal and Divyansh Mishra (DPS, Varanasi) won Bronze Medal.

In finals of Event 5 – Boys 1500m Run Raman Dhamu (DPS, Panipat Refinery) won Gold Medal, Muhammad Rayyan Rashid (DPS, Dubai) bagged Silver Medal and Anurag Kumar (DPS, Bokaro Steel City) won Bronze Medal.

In finals of Event 10 – Boys 4X100 Relay DPS, Bhilai won Gold Medal, DPS, Dubai bagged Silver Medal and DPS, Sector-19 Faridabad got Bronze Medal.

In the finals of Event 11 – Boys 4X400 Relay  DPS, Bokaro Steel City won Gold Medal, DPS Azaad Nagar Kanpur bagged Silver Medal and DPS Siliguri West Bengal won Bronze Medal.

Ms. Shashi Singh, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Ms. Anumeha Singh and the principal Ms. Savita Chadha with all distinguished guests felicitated the winners of the events by giving away medals and certificates to them. Mr. Ranber Singh lowered the sports flag and announced the meet close. Nipun Bhatia (Sports Secretary, DPS Meerut) proposed the vote of thanks.

In the finals of Event 7 Boys Long Jump Altamas Malik (DPS, Nigahi) won Gold Medal, Divesh (DPS, Bhiwani-Haryana) bagged Silver Medal and Affan Khan (DPS, Aligarh) got Bronze Medal.

In the finals of Event 10 Boys 4X100m relay DPS, Bhilai bagged Gold Medal, DPS, Dubai won Silver Medal and DPS, Faridabad Sector-19 won Bronze Medal.

GRAND OPENING OF INTER DPS NATIONAL ATHLETIC MEET BOYS (OPEN) -2016 AT DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, MEERUT 18-11-16

The opening ceremony of Inter DPS National Athletic Meet Boys (Open) -2016 was held at Delhi Public School, Meerut on 18th November 2016. The ceremony showed a perfect combination of sports tradition with latest innovations. The Mega Event exhibited the pinnacle of national athletics in which 600 participants from 60 schools including DPS Dubai and DPS Sharjah participated.

To grace the National Event, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, ADM Meerut was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Dr. D. R. Saini, Director DPS Society New Delhi and Mr. Karmender Singh, Principal Kalka Public School, Meerut were the Special Guests for the ceremony. Ms. Shashi Singh, the Pro-vice Chairperson Delhi Public School Meerut, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Manager Delhi Public School Meerut and Mrs. Anumeha Singh also graced the occasion. During his address Mr. Mukesh Singh motivated and inspire the students that how sports influence all spheres of their lives. Dr. Saini during his address broke a wonderful news to all the DPS sports fraternity that DPS Society has decided to organise DPS Olympics under the aegis of DPS Society from the next year at some nationally recognized venue in the capital . DPS Society has released Rs. Two Crores to better the sports fraternity of Delhi Public Schools with regard to training and equipments.  He also advised all the coaches, officials and the participants to play with truthfulness in which actually, lies the beauty of the sports. Dr. Saini also extended a heart-felt and poignant tribute to our beloved founder Late Shri M.P Singh by pronouncing his (Mr. M.P Singh’s) mission and vision.

Mrs. Shashi Singh, Pro-Vice Chairperson during her address announced that in the memory of the Founder Chairman, Late Shri M.P. Singh, the winner of the Rolling Trophy of this National Meet will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,21,000/-  by M.P. Singh foundation and there after she wished all of the teams best luck with best efforts.

 The Principal, Mrs. Savita Chadha during her address proudly reiterated the names of the iconic sports personalities like Deepa Malik and the flying Sikh Milka Singh. She further said “This life is an arena and each of us has to touch the finishing line and then proudly rejoice our footprints on the ground.”

The ceremony kicked off with the splendid march past by the students representing their schools followed by the release of pigeons and colorful balloons by Mr Atul Singh. This tradition symbolizes freedom and height of efforts. After that Mr. Mukesh Kumar and the other dignitaries present hoisted the sports flag and Mr. Atul Kumar announced the official start of the game. The March Past was loudly cheered by those who attended the ceremony. The performance by the Military Band and the mellow choir by the school band was terrific feast to the eyes. The attires of the dances looked as if the blue horizon was dancing with the snow covered beautiful earth amidst the stars of melody .The Tribal dance with the theme of equality and empowerment of women was really heart moving and therefore earned thunderous of cheers and claps from everyone. Effervescent performances given by the vivacious sportsmen throbbed the grounds receiving lot of appreciation for their superbly breathtaking performances. The sweet sweat shed by the players enthralled everyone.

In Event 6 -Boys High Jump, Akshat Pandey (DPS Greater Noida) bagged the glorious Gold Medal, Abhay Yadav (DPS Gwalior) won Silver Medal and Muhammad Anas (DPS Dubai) won Bronze Medal

In Event 8-Boys Shot Put, Munish Kant Malh (DPS Durg) won Gold Medal, Priyank Bhokar (DPS Panipat City) got Silver Medal and the Bronze Medal was bagged by Siddharth Yadav (DPS Greater Noida).

In Event 4 – Boys 800m run, Dhiraj Kumar Matho (DPS, Bokaro Steel City) won Gold Medal, Anand Bainsla (DPS, Sector-19, Faridabad) got Silver Medal and Raman Dhamu (DPS, Panipat Refinery) won Bronze Medal.

Workshop on Excellence in School Education - 05-11-16

Teachers very often come across a dilemma of following professional excellence going parallel with values based excellence. There for finds difficult to find simplicity in things, which is one of the traits of human nature. Thinking this as one of the prime concerns, Delhi Public School Meerut organized a workshop on excellence in school education on 05-11-2016.

The resource person and the mentor was Dr. Harish Chaudhary, an international counselor on human relationship and improvements in trust building for a better human society. Dr. Chaudhary made this workshop a memorable experience by sharing his wonderful international experiences.

Ms. Shashi Singh the Pro-Vice Chairperson, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut also graced the occasion with their benign presence. Mr. Atul Kumar Singh narrated an inspiring incident to everyone present.

Shri M.P. Singh Memorial Inter School Spectrum of Events – 2016 05-11-16

Late Shri M.P. Singh, the founder of Delhi Public School Meerut always had children close to his heart. His love for children and childhood was boundless. In the fond memory of the father of the Institute; Delhi Public School Meerut organized an Inter School Spectrum of Events on 05-11-2016. Many reputed Schools of Meerut participated in this event. The Spectrum of Events had many competitions for class I to XI like Art & Craft, Grammar Gorillas, Cradle To Cradle, Life’o Script, Replicating Wonders of Nature, One Act Play, Folk Fashion Show, Lyrical Canvas, Ad-Act and Junk Yard War. 10 Sub-venues were into full action with lot of spontaneity and creativity of students. Students and the escorting teachers were quite excited to see the novelty of the ideas for the events. The Valedictory Ceremony was organized in Tagore Hall which commenced soon after the competition at 12:00 Noon. Ms. Shashi Singh the Pro-Vice Chairperson, Mr. Atul Kumar Singh, Manager, Delhi Public School Meerut and Ms. Anumeha Singh graced the occasion with their benign presence. During the ceremony when the audience was told about the mission and vision of our beloved founder, everyone especially children gave a very sincere and intelligent listening to all that was pronounced.

TRIP To ‘TEENMURTI BHAWAN & PLANETARIUM’ 27-10-16

An Educational trip was organised to ‘Teenmurti Bhawan’ and Nehru Planetarium for the students of class-III & IV on 26 October 2016. The students were accompanied by five teachers. Students visited Nehru planetarium where they saw how days and night are caused, gravitational effect, history of universe and about explorers of space. The students also visited Sky Theatre where they saw how planets came into existence in the solar system. Then they went to Teenmurti Bhawan which was also known as Prime Minister’s house. There students came to know about the life history of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. At last students visited Indraprastha Park where they took their lunch. Students enjoyed a lot there.

It was an amazing and wonderful trip with lots of learning experience.

GALA ALUMNI MEET 2016 27-10-16

The Alumni Meet was organized by Delhi Public School Meerut on 27th Oct.’16. Around 200 Alumni were present.

The invocation lighting lamp was graced by the Principal, Ms. Sativa Chadha. The program propelled further with enthralling musical performances by the school band. The whole ambience reflected heartfelt exaltation. Alumni were welcomed by the Principal. After expressing the gratitude to school, the Alumni went round the school and appreciated the new development in terms of new constructions and additions like Tennis Court, Sports sub-venues, Language Labs etc. Many Alumni shared their experiences how the school has helped and equipped them with professional cutting edge. This diverse community of Alumni was really an interactive platform.

The Principal during her address briefed the latest advancements of the school in field of education. CBSE CLUSTER NORTH ZONE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIP 2016 26-10-16

12 Students of DPS, Meerut participated in CBSE cluster north zone skating championship 2016 organised by JBM Global School, Noida from  21 Oct. 2016 to 23 Oct. 2016. More than 55 schools participated in the event. The skaters displayed a good show of speed and balance. The bright day commenced with the address of Dr. Upma Arora, Principal of JBM Global School. Buying and Selling Activity 26-10-16

“Buying and Selling” activity was conducted in all sections of class II on 26-Oct-2016. Students were told to bring dummy money given in their Maths book in a small pouch. They were taken to the activity room where they played role of a buyer and a seller for the conceptual understanding of the topic ‘Money’. Entire activity was conducted using dummy fruits, vegetables and a shop counter. It was a wonderful learning experience for the students.

Workshop on Traffic Safety and Rules 25-10-16

According to a recently conducted survey by WHO Uttar Pradesh Ranks Seventh amongst all the states in terms of death caused by road accidents.

The School is the place where children learn the basic lessons of life and gain wisdom. Hence there could be no better place than the school to create awareness among children about the road safety norms, as these things learnt in the initial years of life become a habit in their later years.

Thinking safety as one of the prime concern a workshop on traffic safety and rules was organised by Delhi Public School Meerut on 25th Oct. 2016. From the traffic department T.S.I. Mr. Santosh Kumar with his subordinate Mr. Mohd. Saleem educated students and teachers on the importance of obeying traffic rules. The Video documentary shown on accident prone areas with likelyhood of accidents due to negligence and speed was really efficacious. The students were told that following safety rules means saving precious life.      

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha welcomed and thanked all the resource persons. During her address she told all the students not to fret or feel bad while coming across the traffic policemen on roads infact they should listen to them as good friends.

The affinity  and charm was observed  through  their remarkable  charismatic  designs.

HINDI – OUR SOUL! OUR IDENTITY 25-10-16

Hindi Diwas was celebrated by Delhi Public School, Meerut on 25.10.2016. Students from classes III to X participated in the programme which started with lighting of lamp. The renowned humorist and satirist Dr. Syyed Azazuddin Shah (Popular Meeruti) was the chief guest who has attained International recognition for his extensive humor and satire. He has always touched human hearts with his fragrant literature. There is no country in Asia where he has not registered his noticeable presence. He has also brought laurels to Indian culture with his wonderful performance in Australia.

The principal, Ms. Savita Chadha welcomed the chief guest with bouquet. Children recited  patriotic and humorous poems. The students won huge appreciation by presenting street play (Nukkad Natak) on the theme “Preservation of environment”. The culture programme and the group song was indeed a feast to the eyes and ears. He encouraged children for their love to their National language. The venue echoed with thunder of claps.

Let’s not change pronunciations of Indian proper nouns in to any foreign language.

20th All India Kumar Surendra Singh Inter School Shooting Championship was organized by National Rifle Association of India in Asansol city in West Bengal from 16th Oct.2016 to 22nd Oct.2016. More than 1500 students participated in this championship. Sarthak Bhardwaj of class IX-A from Delhi Public School, Meerut played in sub junior category of 10 metre Air rifle shooting.                   Delhi Public School, Meerut organised the Scholar Badge Ceremony for senior students of classes IX to XI on 20th October 2016. The meritorious students received felicitation of magnificence for their special virtues and social skills.

 The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Dr. Amit Pathak (MBBS, DMRD) a renowned radiologist of Meerut. The ceremony started with the traditional lamp lighting, followed up by Saraswati Vandna. 257 students were escorted by their teachers to the place for the Ceremony. The documentary shown by the syntax club of the school on the theme “Sparkling Spirits” was really inspiring. Watching Deepa Malik and Devendra Singh as the examples of uber courage was really encouraging.

During his address Dr. Amit Pathak advised the students not to fall into any materialistic comparisons and try to be spiritually strong to rise to the higher levels of success and recognition. He, then, gave away badges and certificates to awardees.

                 The principal Mrs Savita Chadha addressed the august gathering and talked on being aware of the environment in which we grow. She further advised all the students and their parents to try to tune their minds to think out of the box, so that the collective effort of this tri-polar bond could be strengthened.

            The programme came to an end with the rendition of National Anthem.

The documentary shown on the theme of the ceremony “Sparkling Spirits” that aimed to inspire everyone was worth watching. The show presented, won the lauds from all guests and parents.

During his address Col. Sanjay Kumar advised the students to be good human being to be successful professionals. He motivated them to work hard to succeed in every sphere of life.

Adventure Camp 17-10-16

One day adventure camp was organised in DPS, Meerut on 14th Oct-2016.The event started with an enlightening addressal by the Principal Ms. Savita Chadha to boost the participants’ morale. She motivated them to join the camp and perform the activities carefully in a disciplined manner. She also told them to follow all the safety measures given by the instructors.Around 251 students from classes Pre-Nursery to II participated in it with great enthusiasm and zeal under the guidance of instructors of high repute and their teachers. It included many adventurous sports like Commando Net, Spout-Climbing, Tunnel Crawl, Zip line, Burma Bridge, Magical Maze, and Cross Fire etc. Students were also informed about different kinds of tents and trained about how to fix it and their used. Throughout the adventure camp the students faced many challenges, full of thrills and artificial dangers. The environment was so energetic that all the students were completely engrossed and did all the events confidently. It was a joyful and enriching experience for all the students.

Story Telling Session 06-10-16

“Story Telling is the social & cultural activity of sharing stories, often with improvisation, theatrics or embellishment”.

To inculcate education, cultural preservation & moral values through entertainment Delhi Public School, Meerut organised a story telling session for the students of classes V & VI in the school premises. The session was conducted by Ms. Simmi Srivastava, the master story teller and founder director, Kathashala. She narrated an interesting story, putting together movement, creativity, knowledge, skills, experience, facial expressions etc. She also imparted the methodology of learning in an entertaining experiential and engaging way to make it more effective. She emphasized on character Building & Personality Development for students through designed curriculum & lesson plans.

Principal Mrs. Savita Chadha appreciated & thanked the Resource person for her innovative efforts and encouraged the students to focus on reading for effective learning and to become an efficient storyteller.

Overall it proved to be knowledgeable session that spread the awareness of “Unity is strength” and “Together we can and we will”.

Delhi Public School, Meerut in collaboration with Scholastic Publication organized a three days “Book Fair” from 06th Oct’ 16 to 08th Oct’ 16. It gave a loud and clear message that Delhi Public School, Meerut believes in providing its students with holistic and informative Books to enrich their vocabulary and diction. The fair was inaugurated by the school Principal, Mrs. Savita Chadha, who wished that the students inculcate reading habits by reading various books available on different subjects.

A wide range of books from all disciplines of education was displayed, and fiction saw the greatest takers. It saw an overwhelming response from the students. The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from science to spooky stories; from puzzles to poems; and from fiction to facts. The teachers equally helped the children in selecting the books.

Trip to Rail Museum, India Gate & I.P. Park 05-10-16

Learning through fun filled excursions has always been a popular pedagogy practiced by  Delhi Public School, Meerut. Keeping so in mind one day’s outdoor trip was organised on 05th October 2016 for the students of class III to Rail Museum, India Gate & I.P. Park.

The Principal Mrs. Savita Chadha wished good luck to the children and encouraged them to minutely observe the great inventions of our country. First of all the children visited Children’s Park where they enjoyed various swings and joy rides, then they were taken to India Gate where they paid tribute to Amar Jawan Jyoti, All India War Memorial in the honor of the sacrifices by the Unknown Soldiers.

After that they were taken to Rail Museum where they were made aware about the history of trains, their different models, their inventions etc. They were also shown the different models of ancient ships, old coins, machines used for making tunnels etc. At last children were taken to I.P. Park and a healthy & a delicious lunch was provided to them.

Children returned back to the school at 05:00 p.m. and were handed over to the parents safely with unforgettable memories. It was a memorable outing for all.

Trip to Kidzania 04-10-16

Learning through recreation has always been one of the most sought after pedagogies. Keeping so in mind a trip to kidzania (an amusement park) was organized on 4th Oct’ 16 for students of class II. Around 70 students accompanied by 4 teachers enjoyed this trip. Besides swings and fancy food, students were also given to understand how their favourite foods are manufactured like Frooti, Dominos, burgers, Parle-G biscuits etc. Students were also educated on safety measurements by understanding how to abide by-law and order. Students were also told the rules on personal hygiene. There were around 80 “Do it yourself” activities designed for the students which helped children to be well informed. Metropolitan Hospital, Bank, Zebra kitchen, Music studio, Dance, Fashion walk etc. were some of the attractions not only for the children but for all. The welcome dance by the host at kidzania was really enthralling. With the advent of the winters the trip organized for the children was enjoyed at par and will be a memorable event for all the students and staff members.

Students coloured the pictures of these great freedom fighters in their respective classes. They repeated the motos of these leaders after their teachers as  “ Bura mat dekho, Bura mat suno and Bura mat bolo” by Mahatma Gandhi & 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan by Shastriji' . It was to make the kids know and learn about our freedom fighters.

To arouse the love for eating vegetables, “A day with vegetable vendor“, activity was conducted for tiny tots of Delhi Public School, Meerut on 1st Oct’ 16 i.e. Saturday. Teacher as well as students became vegetable vendor. Some children are looking really very cute when dressed up as vegetable vendors. They were made to do the role play too. Teachers showed the children mock vegetables and fruits and acquainted them with the vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients which we get from them. It was a fun learning experience for each and every child.

Clown Sandwich Making Activity 29-09-16

Seeing the mothers cooking food in the kitchen, little children are always curious to try to make something to eat for themselves. So, to quench their eagerness a Sandwich Making Activity was held for tiny tots of DPS, Meerut on 29-09-2016 i.e. Thursday. Children brought required things to make delicious sandwiches such as bread, cheese slices, tomato, cucumber, tomato ketchup and a packet of gems. With the instructions given by the teachers, they made sandwiches of different shapes and sizes. They learnt some new words like spread, sprinkle, slice, sachet etc. They were also told to help their mothers in the kitchen and advised not to play with knives and forks.  This activity helped them to be more independent.

Workshop on “Problems of Adolescence” 27-09-16

Adolescence is the age when a child steps out of the childhood. But this is the most sensitive part of life because in this age the child is perplexed, confused and himself cannot understand the changes happening around, say it to be physical, emotional or environmental. To help the teachers understand better and deal with this in the classrooms, a workshop was conducted at DPS Meerut on 27th September 2016 by one of the best counselors of Doctor on Call, Dr. Manisha Jethwani. She gave a number of guidelines to the teachers about the adolescence and the ways to deal with problems faced by the students passing through this age. It was an interactive session and the discussions would really help the teachers to know their students better and help them sail through the various ups and downs of life.

“GRANDPARENTS WEEK”

“A warm hug by grandparents to their grandchildren has always been an emotional support for them.”

Keeping the same in mind and to imbibe moral values in the children, Delhi Public School, Meerut celebrated ‘Grandparents Week’ from 23rd Sep’16 to 30th Sep’16 in the school premises. The grandparents of the students from classes Pre-Nursery to II took part in different activities which were specially planned for them. On the first day, they narrated stories from Panchatantra that proved to be the best way to drill in moral values in children. Second day proved to be a creative session wherein they taught the children a lot of craft activities like wall hanging, photo frame, card etc. The Third day was followed up by chanting of shlokas & couplets from Ramayna & Bhagwad Geeta and the grandparents also told the children about our great heritage & culture. The fourth day concluded with Aartis of different Gods & Goddesses sung in melodious voices of grandmothers which brought positive vibrations in the entire auditorium.

The Principal Mrs. Savita Chadha whole heartedly thanked all the grandparents for sparing their Valuable time & sharing their life experiences with the children. She appreciated & applauded and marked their presence as an opportunity to help the young talents prod their way to a new future.

“Identifying the students with special needs” 20-09-16

A workshop was conducted by Dr. Manisha Jethwani on 20th September 2016 for the teachers from class Pre-Nursery to class V at Delhi Public School, Meerut. The topic was “Identifying the students with special needs”. She told teachers how to identify the needs of children and sort out their problems. She also told the importance of language and sound. If a student will not listen properly he/she will not be able to speak properly and cannot convey his thoughts. She also emphasised on the importance of games in a child’s life for physical and mental development. In the programme some valuable tips were given for the overall development of a child.

On 04th September’16 two students i.e. Priyanshi Puniya (XI-F) and Anubhav Kumar (IX-D) of Delhi Public School, Meerut participated in a Debate Competition organised by Lions Club, Meerut. The topic of the debate was “Dialogues with Pakistan is not a solution to Kashmir Problems”. Priyanshi Puniya spoke for the motion where as Anubhav Kumar spoke against the motion. Performance of both the participants was excellent for which they were awarded. They both were also given certificate of excellence. Competition was judged by a panel of senior teachers from the field of education. All the teachers present were felicitated on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. On 06th September 2016, Green Colour was introduced to the children of Pre- Nursery & Nursery by using green things. Children came to school dressed in green attires. They brought green vegetables in their lunch boxes.  Focusing on the theme teachers planned art and collage activities for kids. Their art work was displayed on the soft boards. The children enjoyed all the activities and were happy when they received green handouts made with paper to reinforce the colour concept. They were taken out in the garden where they sat on the green grass, touched green leaves to feel the green colour. It was a fun based learning activity.

TEACHERS’ DAY 05-09-16

5th September 2016,  Delhi Public School celebrated the auspicious occasion of Teachers’ Day. A special assembly was conducted which began with the enchanting of the Gayatri Mantra. Everyone felt a wave of piousness while the Principal Ms. Savita Chadha offered flowers to Late DrSarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birthday is celebrated as Teachers Day.

Teachers were welcomed by the students of class 10 in a traditional style and were given cards with compliments as a mark of respect. It was then followed by a variety of entertaining programmes by the students of class 10. They unveiled the enviable talents of singers and dancers.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha  lent the occasion , the equisite warmth with her gracious presence. She spoke in high esteem of the staff for taking DPS Meerut to heights and also congratulated the students for their commendable presentation of the assembly. The celebrations ended but left its memories in the hearts of all to cherish forever.

The Celebration successfully pressed an ideology upon the students to stay away from comforts and try to be in the association with the people of vision.

Teacher’s Day Activity 05-09-16

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Students of class II performed a role play activity on 05th September 2016 wherein they dressed up as teachers and taught their classmates. It was a memorable moment for teachers to watch little teachers dressed up so elegantly and carrying themselves so smartly. This activity ended up boosting confidence level of the students. Workshop on “Personal and Dental Hygiene 02-09-16

“Good personal hygiene is one of the most effective ways to protect ourselves from illness & diseases”.

Keeping in mind the maintenance of personal hygiene for the growth and development of a child Delhi Public School, Meerut organised a workshop for the students of class V on the topic “Personal & Dental Hygiene”. The session was conducted by Dr. Anjali Sharma who made the students aware about the bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites that how do they transfer, affect and harm one’s body. She also told about the importance and techniques of washing hands, bathing, brushing etc. The students took active interest in listening the germs story and also did an activity based on it. They were also told about the ten great Dental Hygiene Tips.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha instructed the children to focus on Oral & Dental Hygiene so as to get rid of harmful bacteria & diseases.

Culture and heritage plays an important role in building an economically sustainable and cohesive country and need a special focus for promotion and preservation. Keeping this in mind Delhi Public School, Meerut in collaboration with SPIC MACAY, the society for the promotion of the Indian Classical Music and Culture organized a concert on Hindi Classical Music.

The renowned Violinist Ms. Anupriya Deotale accompanied by famous Tabla player Ustad Akhtar Hassan Bhai enthralled the audience with the awe-striking and spell binding music.

The Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the magnificent performances. During her address she appealed to all the students specially those who have opted for Music as their subject, to give their best in terms of learning music with soul to high standard of discipline and forward the Melody to posterity.

CELEBRATE ONE OF THE WISEST DECISIONS IN LATER YEARS

The one day Free Career Counseling Workshop of was held on 30th August 2016 at Delhi public school, Meerut with participation of nearly 350 students of class XI and XII.

The base line of the Workshop was to help prospective generation to understand their hidden talent in a scientific way via psychological tests, interactive counseling by experts, an open round of questioning and expert advises from well known professionals of various fields.

The workshop was well conducted by renowned career counselor Mr. Love Jain, a renowned career expert.”Choosing the field according to one’s interest and capability and then pursuing the same with conviction leads to success that is what the expert had to say to the gathering. He also gave the formula for success. By illustrating live cases and thought provoking deliberations, he made the atmosphere extremely electrifying and involved each and every participant to understand and realize their inherent strengths to opt their best suited career prospects.

.Another important part of the workshop was the Interactive Counseling Session .The aim was to have a free and frank discussion with the participants and for resolving their doubts and queries on career and future.

The principal Mrs. Savita Chadha during her address thanked Mr. Love Jain for such a trendy and effective presentation. She advised the students to know the importance of the ongoing formative years and their constructive strength .She further added that small decisions taken wisely can help make good professional career :and to have everything going and celebrate their pick on career after many years from now, they must have regular communication with their parents and experts with adequate emphasis on their skills improvement.

The workshop received huge appreciation from the parents present and the participating students who urged on having such events at regular basis. The effort was applauded by all the present.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY - 2016-17" 27-08-2016

Delhi Public School, Meerut organized “INVESTITURE CEREMONY” for the session 2016-17 on 27th August 2016. The eminent Professor Dr. D.L. Arora graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Mr. Anil Bansal, Chief Beuro, Jansatta was invited as special guest. Mr. Atul Singh, Manager, Delhi Public School, Meerut was also present to congratulate the new appointees.

 

School principal Ms. Savita Chadha welcomed all the distinguished guests. The ceremony started with ‘Ganesh Vandana’, followed by a motivational group song. Bengali folk dance and presentation by Syntech Club were the chief attractions of the ceremony. The new appointees marched past with oath ceremony to fulfill their duties with devotion.

During his address, the chief guest, Dr. D.L. Arora motivated the new appointees of student council to perform their duties with devotion and dedication. School Manager Mr. Atul Singh congratulated and gave his  best wishes to all the office bearers.

 

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha through her address highlighted that the aim of such ceremonies is not to just recognize those who chose to lead the way but to actually spur those who harbour reservations, fear, withdrawal attitudes, inability to take risks and above all prefer to stay back. She motivated the students to seek inspiration from the recent Olympics and stand up to their convictions, hone their strengths, shield their weaknesses and go into the arena as a Gladiator to return only with the sash wrapped around them.

Visit to Augharnath Temple 24-08-2016

Religious places are always marked as a respect for all religions. They are the most pious places where it is believed that the God resides and prayers are heard in every form. On the occasion of Janamasthmi, Tiny Tots of DPS Meerut were taken to the famous Augharnath (Kalipaltan) Temple of the Meerut city.  Escorted by the teachers, children reached the temple at nine in the morning. They were whole heartedly welcomed by the priests and were given prasad after offering the prayers. It was a way to arouse a deep faith in God amongst these tiny and innocent souls. They all came back happily with Prasad for the entire school. The teachers told the students the historical importance of this sacred precinct

KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATION 23-08-16

On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtmi, DPS Meerut celebrated the festival with full zest and zeal. Children came to school in glittering attires of Radha & Krishna. Teachers told them about the importance of this festival and how to celebrate it. Students of class Prep were helped to make beautiful paper dresses for lord Krishna. Nursery and Pre Nursery kids prepared Mock Peacock Feathers with sparkle sheets and glitters. Moreover, beautiful Radha and Natkhat Krishna were awarded sashes by the respective class teachers. To enhance the knowledge about our country amongst the children a ‘Fancy Dress competition’ was conducted  for class I on 20 Aug’2016.  Theme of the competition was ‘Our Freedom Fighters’. Students dressed up as Gandhi ji, Jhansi ki Rani, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad etc. Competition was judged by Ms. Richa Luthra and Ms. Bhawna Bharti. Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the zest of students and congratulated the winners of the competition. The sole aim of the activity was to boost up students’ love for their country. 70th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 15-08-16

One of the most awaited and unmissable celebration of 70th anniversary of India’s Independence took place at Delhi Public School, Meerut on 15th August 2016 in Tagore Hall. The venue being packed to its capacity vividly displayed the students’ heartfelt emotions and respect for this red-letter day. The celebration of patriotism and sacrifices took off with the hoisting of National Flag.

The Arts club of school (students and teachers) had beautifully decorated the venue with colorful ribbons, festoons and posters with patriotic slogans written on them. Here and there the students of heritage club could be seen holding placards with constitutional duties of Indian Citizens. A strong optimism could be felt through the melodious lyrics sung by school choir. A special performance by Abhiyan Singh won everybody’s appreciation.

Besides a beautifully recited poem, an enthralling dance was presented. The emphatic skit with the clear stubbornness and denial to any unjust Geographical control by any neighboring power was really exiting.

The Principal Mrs. Savita Chadha during her address talked on series issue of brain drain. She told students that going to foreign lands for higher education and international acumen is no wrong provided they have a feeling to come back and serve their Mother Country.  She further appealed to each individual present in the hall to introspect to find the educational ways to get India’s growth graph with regards to everything higher. At last, everyone at school participated in the rendition of National Anthem.

The program was truly a workshop to make human-safe guards for India’s secularism, integrity and peace.

A special quality visit was done by the Chairman D.P.S Society & Chairman Managing committee, Meerut, Mr. Shunglu at D.P.S Meerut on 13th Aug ‘2016. Mr. S.K. Mittal (FCA & Member of board of management, DPS Meerut), Mr. Divakar Dev (Member- Board of Management DPS Meerut), Mr. Atul  Singh (Manager, DPS Meerut) , Ms. Shubhra Singh (Member , BOM DPS Meerut) also joined him at D.P.S Meerut.

Thousands of students with their teachers were enthusiastically waiting to receive the Head of the D.P.S family. The moment he arrived in the premises the whole environment got charged up. During his official round with the Principal Ms. Savita Chadha he appreciated the high standard of discipline maintained in the school and the quality education being imparted to the students not just in academics but also their all round personality development for their bright futures .They admired the school management for the magnificent construction of the school building that is compatible to contemporary trends and requirements. Mr. Atul Singh (Manager, DPS Meerut ) conveyed that  our 20 percent students have been selected in IIMS & IIT and the manner in which the students of our school are excelling  in sports as they were the overall runner up of D.P.S Sports Meet , 2015-16 and gained a gold and four silver medals, they were the winner of  the skating championship too in it. Ms. Shashi Singh (Pro-Vice Chair Person, DPS Meerut) said that observing the increasing demand for admissions, very soon D.P.S Meerut‘s requirement for more space and assets will be there . Mr. Shunglu said that very soon the school will become No 1 School in Western U.P and assured  for providing all possible support.

He motivated the students through his precious message that sky is the limit for the students at D.P.S. He blessed the students and the institute for an even brighter future.

The Tiny Tots of DPS, Meerut celebrated “The 70th Independence day”, with great zeal and zest on 12-08-2016. Children made many beautiful cutouts with paper using saffron, white and green colors. It was a step to let the students know about the country, its national flag and a way to ignite a spark of patriotism amongst them. It is always fun to be with the friends at any age of life. A life without friends is like a rose without fragrance. To express the feelings of a true friendship, “Friendship Day” is celebrated all over the world, every year on first Sunday of August. This year friendship day will fall on 7th August i.e. Sunday. So it was celebrated on Friday i.e. 5th August for Tiny Tots of DPS Meerut. Children were made to exchange self made cards, friendship bands etc to express their feelings towards their friends.  Intra class Declamation was organized on 4 Aug’2016 for all the sections of class II. The well prepared students delivered speeches on the topics like save water, importance of trees, health and hygiene etc. The intonation and fluency of the language(English) was admirable .This competition clearly conveyed that students had lot of practical researches with their parents and teachers.The judges for the competition were Ms. Richa Luthra and Ms. Neelam Adhirana who appreciated and boosted up the morale of the participants. Family is the single most important influence in a child’s life. From their first moments of life, children depend on parents and family to protect them and provide for their needs. Parents and family form a child’s first relationship But no child cannot himself realize the same, so to sensitize the children towards this important relationship, a family day was celebrated in premises of DPS Meerut’s Kindergarten section on 22 July 2016. Children were taught about various types of families and how we are interdependent on each other as well as each relation has its own importance. They made  handouts  with palm impressions and a slogan “Strong roots make beautiful leaves”. This left a heart touching impression on who ever saw it.

The above lines written by an American Poet remind us that we need to teach our children the responsibility towards the environment. To emboss the same on the growing minds,” Grow with the Trees” activity was conducted for Tiny Tots of DPS Meerut. Where in, the students of class Pre-nursery were taught how to water the plants along with a message sent to the parents to make the children do the same at home. Sowing the seeds that children preserved at home of the fruits that they eat everyday was done by Nursery students and planting, sowing and hoeing was taught to Prep students. Kids of class 1 were shown how the germination of seeds take place and students of class 2 were taken to the Herbal garden at the backyard of the school to learn about medicinal plants. All the students enthusiastically participated in the activity and promised to take care of the environment.

DINE TO SHINE ACTIVITY 15-07-2016

To avoid awkward social situations while dining and to help the children behave properly, Dine to Shine Activity i.e (teaching proper table manners) was conducted on 15 July 2016 for Juniors of DPS Meerut. Many activities were conducted at different levels . For Pre-Nursery, it was teaching basic table manners, for Nursery; no throwing or gabbing of food ,for prep; elbows off the table ,for class I; food to mouth not mouth to food, take just right bites etc.  And for class II ,it was “to be a good host”. Proper use of fork and knife was demonstrated by teachers in their respective sections. Audio visual aids were also the part of the drilling thoroughly. The entire activity was enjoyed by the kids and they learnt everything whole heartedly.

Delhi Public School, Meerut organised a special assembly for the students of classes VI & VII on the theme ‘Eid-Ul-Fitr’ on 06 July’16. The assembly started with morning prayer & meditation followed by thought for the day and news. A Student of class VII presented an enriching speech to commemorate the significance of the festival, the feeling of brotherhood, fasting & offering prayers. To explore the feeling of universal brotherhood a poem was recited by a student of class VI and a melodious choral singing was displayed by the talented singers to offer their worship to the almighty. An environment of joy & happiness for this festival was created through a “Thematic Qawwali” to inspire religious devotion & instruction amongst all.

Principal Ms. Savita Chadha applauded the hardwork & efforts put in by the children. She also told about the importance of the festival in terms of peace, sharing, prayers and disciples. It was a heart-touching & meaningful assembly to celebrate the victory of the forces of good over evil.

MEMORABLE EXCURSION TO NAINITAL AT AYARPATA Date: 27-05-2016

Delhi Public School, Meerut sent the children of classes VIII to X for an educational trip to Nainital. It was a five day designed program to enhance love with nature & to discover their latent talents in the tranquil atmosphere of the forests of Nainital. Students left for their desired destination with the great blessings of our respected Principal Ms. Savita Chadha. She herself was presentto see off the group on 23 May at 10 pm at night with her invaluable tips to make this trip a memorable one.
The students reached at Ayarpata at 7 o’clock in the morning.
Dividing the students into the three group- Red Indians, Green Gorillas and Black Commandos, children performed the activities like tent pitching, flying fox, rock climbing, knot practice, rappelling and tracking & caving etc.
Trekking, a journey under taken on foot to explore the jungle hills, was performed by the students, even at night and also observed the silent beauty of nature & existence of wild life.
Children felt enthusiastic in Rappelling Activity while coming down from a mountain slope in a controlled manner with the help of mountaineering equipement.
The children enjoyed Bonfire & D.J. night were rewarded for their remarkable performances for different activities.
The children were motivated by the teacher incharges and the instructors of Rock Sport as well.
The whole vision was given by Principal Ms. Savita Chadha to give the encouragement to the students to face the challenges in their lives.
It was an enthusiastic, encouraging, enriching trip to increase the love for nature & wild life.
Caving, a recreational pastime of exploring wild cave system was a great experience to enter in an underground space large enough for a human to enter. The caves lead the students into a mysterious and ancient dreams of history. They were introduced to an ecofriendly life and got knowledge of different kinds of caves like solution caves, boulder caves, sea caves, glacer caves etc.
On 27 May’ 2016 in morning 06:30am the students were handed over safely to their parents.

MEMORABLE EXCURSION TO MUSSOORIE Date: 25-05-2016



To give a great start the summer break, Delhi Public School, Meerut took an initiative to send the children of classes VI & VII for an excursion to Mussoorie which is said to be “Queen of Hills”. The entire arrangement was under the supervision of India’s best company “Rocksport” which organizes such tours & excursions for students of various schools across India. It was a five day outing from 19 May 2016 to 23 May’ 2016 to savour the quiet, natural beauty of the place, situated at the foot of Mussoorie Hills in Uttrakhand. The children eagerly looked forward to high adventure that the place promises, especially a face to face encounter with wild life, nature, adventures etc. With the great blessings and best wishes of the our Respected Principal Ms. Savita Chadha the students left for their dream destination at 10 o’clock in the night on 19 may’16 to be well in time for a check in at “The Kandhi Orchards”. After a brief discussion and distribution of groups the students headed towards the hills to trek & visited the temple of “Lord Shiva” which was situated at the top of the hills & enjoyed the views of the valleys. After that they had their energy drink & learnt different activities like Equipment Knots Tying, Tent Pitching, Zip Line, Giant Ladder Climbing. The day ended with bonfire clubbed with music, songs, games, dinner etc.
On day 2, another trek was ready to face the activities such as Rock Climbing, Zappling, Hangman which not only energized the children but also made them strong & confident. Then the magnificent activity that enrolled the heartbeats was Stream Runner Activity in which the children walked in the stream full of big slippery rocks, stones, pebbles etc. The students also went for night trekking to observe the silent beauty of Nature and existence of wild life. Once again the day ended with fun, bonfire, dinner, games etc. On the third and the last day the rocksport instructors took the children for some more thrilling & exciting activities such as Gorilla war, Raft Building, Face Painting, Swimming session etc wherein they learnt to work as a team & face the challenges thats come across them during their journeys and were also told about the importance of Nature in their lives. The day ended with DJ Night and Dinner. The children were motivated by marvelous thoughts of teachers and Rocksport Instructors.
Some of the children were also given gifts for their remarkable performances in different activities in which they had participated enthusiastically & had outshone others.
Principal, Ms. Savita Chadha encouraged the children to fight and face physical and mental challenges in every aspect of life.
It was an enriching & entertaining trip & a must visit prescription for very nature lover. On 23 May’ 2016 at morning 06:00 AM the students were handed over to the parents safely with unforgettable memories.

ACADEMIC CAMP FOR STUDENTS 9TH MAY 2016 TO 14TH MAY 2016 DPSS – HRD CENTRE, DPS DWARKA CAMPUS , NEW DELHI Date: 14-05-2016



Adit Khokar of class Xth was selected to join six day Academic Camp for students, who were qualified in 2nd level of SMTE. 113 students and 38 teachers of different DPS school participated in this camp. Each and every session of the camp was related with the knowledge of science and math topics. Resource persons were the experts of their fields and they enriched the growing minds with the knowledge related with the development of scientific skills. They told various easy methods to solve difficult problems, which may help the students in various competitive exams. All the sessions were interactive and interesting and students’ response was good.

Resource material was also provided by the HRDC to every participant. At night there was a self study session in which the residing experts discussed the problems related with the topics, which were faced by the students during the day time sessions.

Lectures on cybernetics and safety, impact of math, the world of science, exploring chemistry etc. had a great impact on everyone.

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION Date: 09-05-2016



Mother's Day is a perfect time to celebrate your mother and all her wonderful qualities.

Mother’s Day is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm in 46 countries across the globe. It is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, the unconditional love of mothers and their influence in society. Mothers are our guiding force and are responsible for making us who we are.

To generate this special feeling among the tiny tots and give them a chance to show their feelings towards their dear mothers, the Kindergarten section of DPS, Meerut celebrated Mother’s Day on 09 May 2016.The students were reminded of the contributions of their mothers to their lives through activities conducted in their classes. Though they may not show it every day, but they were happy to get an opportunity to express their love and admiration to their mothers on this very special day. The cherubs prepared beautiful cards and bouquet of paper flowers with their little hands as a surprise gifts for their dear mothers. This was an effort to develop their sensitivity towards the environment and fine motor skills.

COLOURING COMPETITION Date: 06-05-2016



An intra class colouring competition was organized for all the students of class II on 06 May 2016 at Delhi Public School, Meerut. The motive of this activity was to explore and encourage creativity among students and offer them a platform to show their skills in colouring. It inspired students to think and work creatively which promoted their artistic excellence. This fun filed activity witnessed an enthusiastic participation of all the students.

“BREAKFAST IN THE PARK” Date: 05-05-2016



Today’s motto of life should be “Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy” and to promote the same with hands-on-experience, “Breakfast in the park” activity was held for classes Pre Nursery to II in the lush green garden of Delhi Public School, Meerut on 05 May 2016. Children were taken out of the classes and made to eat and share and enjoy their breakfast like Yummy Pakoras, Sprouts etc. under the blue, wide open sky. The weather also added a spice to their enjoyment. A lots of activities were conducted including teaching them not to throw the leftover here and there. Basically, it was a new experience for the kids to learn and enjoy.

“MANGO PARTY” Date: 02-05-2016



Summer is on its peak and the market is full of juicy, delicious and exotic fruits. But the most relished fruit by everyone is ‘Mango’. Today i.e. on 02 May 2016, a mango party was organized for tiny tots at Delhi Public School, Meerut wherein the children brought cubes of mango in their lunch boxes and were dressed in yellow. Lots of activities were held in the classes. The teachers showed raw and ripe mangoes to the children and made them learn about the advantages of eating fruits. They were also acquainted with the preparations which can be made with the mangoes as shakes, ice-creams, juices etc. A self made handout of a mango was also given to each and every child to drill in the concept thoroughly. It was a fun filled day for the children.

DPS MEERUT ORGANIZES WORKSHOP FOR ADOLESCENTS Date: 11-04-2016



Delhi Public School, Meerut organized an extensive counseling session for the students of classes IX and X on 11-04-2016. All the students and teachers as well as the parents  attended the program.
 
Dr. Manisha Jaithwani educated the students and teachers on physical, mental and psychological changes and their symptoms which happen amongst the children of 10 years – 19 years of age (according to WHO). In the workshop students were told how they can take challenges on social level, how to strengthen their decisiveness and how one can persuade oneself for the right things in life. She further prepared formal and informal individual reports on students’ behavior and personality. Students and teachers welcomed all the suggestions proposed by Dr. Manisha whole-heartedly and positively. Everyone who attended the workshop appreciated it. Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the efforts of the Doctor from Medanta-The Medicity. She further advised all the teachers and parents to be more observant and considerate towards students especially when they go through the challenging years of adolescence.

MY CITY MY INITIATIVE Date: 08-04-2016



Under the banner of MY CITY MY INITIATIVE, The Avenue Public School, Meerut has organized an exhibition on Space Sciences and Technology by (ISRO) Indian Space Research Organization on 08 and 09 April, 2016. 54 students and 3 teachers of our school participated in this exhibition on 09 April. In this exhibition various components of Chandrayaan and other satellites such as Microwave Meteorological Payload, Remote sensors, Camera models, Scale down models of launched vehicles, various satellite models etc. were shown and explained to the students by the staff of ISRO.
A discussion session was also held there, in which various queries of our students were aslo solved by the scientists and engineers of ISRO. Students were amazed to see the original models of PSLV and GSLV. Good interactive approach was shown by our students. Mr. S. K. Verma also guided the students to a large extent. It was a good initiative and these types of activities are necessary for the development of scientific temper of the ignited minds of students.

DPS MEERUT PROVES HER MULTI DIMENTIONAL REPERTOIRE Date: 07-04-2016



Forwarding the legacy of giving excellence to the city, DPS, Meerut had added one more Gem to its crown. A team consisting of 14 students participated in a Multi Skill Inter School Competition held at Meerut Public Girls School, Shastri Nagar, Meerut. The Students participated in six different categories of competition namely Pen Your Thoughts, Jingle a Tagline, Postero Mania, Scrap Book Making, Lets Debate and Poetry. The format of the competition had lots of verbal nods. Students from DPS, Meerut proved their characteristic academic and co curricular metal and left every one in profound amazement by bearing away a magnificent victory.

DPS MEERUT CELEBRATES WORLD HEALTH DAY Date: 07-04-2016



World Health Day i.e. 07 April’16 was celebrated in Delhi Public School, Meerut. Besides many other activities, a special presentation on the significance of this day was given by Dr. Anjali Singh Sharma.The whole program extensively aimed at Diabetes and Obesity amongst children. She told the students about different types of diabetes and educated students about the reasons and the hazardous results of addiction to eating junk food and living life without exercise. On this occasion, Principal Ms. Savita Chadha told many efficacious solutions and precautionary measures in order to fight against these deep rooted diseases. She further made all the students and teachers take pledge to fight against these ailments. Her presentation became all the more communicative when supported with slides and video clippings.

REPORT ON WELCOME TO NEW SESSION ACTIVITY DATE: 05-04-2016



New Bags, New Books, New Class, New teachers and New Friends! And one more step towards progress. The new session has begun and the excitement can be felt among the students. So on 05 April 2016, the teachers of classes Pre-Nursery to II welcomed their little cherubs with smile on their faces. Students were comforted in their classrooms and introduced to one another. There were lots of fun filled activities as dancing, reciting rhymes etc. While saying good bye to students, teachers gifted a token in the form of cards, sachets and smiles to preserve as a memory of “First Day in the School”.

DPS MEERUT TAKES A CALL ON NUTRITION AND HEALTH Date: 04-04-2016



In today’s life style of students which is hectic and draining, attention to good health and food has taken back seat. This upsetting scenario results in many academic and health challenges. Attending to the same concern Delhi Public School, Meerut under its annual medical program “Doctor on call” organized a Counseling session on identifying students with special needs in terms of good diet, academic boosters and required social skills. The Doctors and The Counselors from Medanta - The Medicity, (A world class hospital in Gurgaon) conducted the special workshop. The Tagore Hall of the school being packed to its capacity spoke volumes of immediacy of the concern and success of the session meant to help students, parents and teachers. Senior nutritionist Praveena Anadaraman talked on healthy eating habits based on nutritive value for children. She educated everyone present on the “how much “and “how” intake of proteins and other nutrition. In the session held by Ms. Manisha Jethwani (A senior psychological counselor), parents and teachers were guided to be watchful of developmental signs to notice in the child. The session ended for 45 minutes. She further held individual sessions with parents and students who were regressing academically; and prepared an informal respective assessment of the children. Principal Ms. Savita Chadha appreciated the complete attendance of the parents and appealed to them to spare out time as much as possible for their children to ensure their good physical, mental and social health.
